Central Hall - Westminster

Right from my impressionable years, Monet has been a great influence especially on working from the motif (as he called it) but also the use of colour. Thus, I have become renowned for eschewing black.
I discovered by mixing dioxazine purple and ultramarine with alizarine crimson with a touch of ochre one could render the intensity of dark colours and shadows. By adding titanium white in various amounts, one gets varying shades of grey (sic) – ideal for stone work.
