Treatment
I elected for Radiotherapy rather than Chemotherapy as I had seen the effects with my late wife and two friends had suffered complications from surgery.
Dreams of sketching were quickly dashed as I was strapped down in a rigid position to ensure that the radio beams hit the prostate – so accurate is the targeting - the bladder has to be full and the bowel empty – not easy for me as I was prone to flatulence (thankfully there were medical terms).
I was in the darkened room for preparation with an eerie tracery green light beam so at least got to absorb the environment to assemble a number of artworks.
Postscript: Heartfelt thanks for the caring and loving treatment throughout this process with gratitude to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Woolwich), Lewisham Hospital and the Dimbleby Cancer Unit at Queen Marys, Sidcup
Hopefully these artworks can find a home and are available free of charge to any charity, organisation involved in cancer treatment or indeed anyone who has survived Prostate Cancer
